課程概述

521 M6630 'Academic English Writing' gives graduate students an introduction to academic English and the structure of an academic journal article. The course guides students to write a research paper, and helps them cultivate effective academic presentation skills. 

課程目標
This course aims to develop students' competence in writing and presenting a research paper in English. Upon the completion of the course, students will: 1) be able to identify the moves and steps in constructing a research paper; 2) have the experience of writing a research paper utilizing these moves and steps; and 3) have the experience of giving an academic presentation. 
課程要求
Lectures, class discussions, and individual and collaborative writing activities will be used in this course. Students are expected to come to class prepared (having previewed reading passages in the textbook prior to each class), participate in discussions, and complete in-class writing exercises. In addition to scheduled classes, students are expected to spend additional time, at least 3 hours per week, on individual study and research.
